Jan 06, 2010 · The problems I see with adding insulation directly to the exhaust are increasing the rate of heat-affected corrosion (the pipe and muffler will be much hotter) and trapping moisture on cool down. The insulating effect of ceramic coating on the exhaust is trivial.
How is the temperature of the muffle furnace calibrated. As long as the temperature controller displays and the actual maf furnace temperature is not too bad is accurate. If it's already shown 850 degrees, take another thermocouple, and the two temperatures aren't too bad.
